Seven-year-old Mya Stewart, of Hasland, didn’t look at her TV, tablet or computer for four days.

Charitable Mya had intended to finish the challenge after three days but, after raising £500, she decided to push on for another 24 hours in a bid to bring in more cash for the vital charity.

In total, she raised a remarkable £1,056.50 for Ashgate Hospicecare.

Mya’s mum Claire said: “As a family we are incredibly proud of her.

“It’s quite a big thing for her to go without her electronic devices – especially during lockdown – and yet she didn’t complain once.

“We’re amazed at how much money she has raised and we’re very grateful to everyone who supported her challenge.”

Mya had been due to start at 1st Hasland Brownies after the Easter holidays but the group hasn’t been running because of the coronavirus pandemic – so she decided the next best thing was to work towards her charity badge.

After discussing a few possibilities with her family, she decided to raise money for Ashgate Hospicecare as her great-grandmother – who sadly passed away in May – spent her final few days there.

Claire added: “As a family we were very grateful that they were able to care for her as it meant my mum could spend some time with her before she died.

“Mya understood how special that was in these current times and how important it is to support such charities.”
