Chesterfield model urges women to enter pageant which helped her confidence and has seen her travel the world
A Chesterfield model is urging other women to enter a new swimsuit pageant, saying taking part in the contest gave her confidence and led to her travelling to some of the world’s most glamourous locations.
Now as the 2021 event is inviting entries, she's encouraging others to take part
She said: “I’d always loved the thought of competing. I loved being on stage as a child in dancing shows and pantomimes. I love the confidence it gave me, that I always felt I lacked. So for me, I felt such an urge to compete in pageants.
"The couple of years previous to me competing, I’d struggled silently with major anxiety and depression, that nobody would of noticed from the outside. Competing really gave me the push out of my comfort zone I needed.
"Mental health is such a taboo subject for a lot of people, and Miss Swimsuit gave me a platform to not only talk about it, and get over some insecurities of my own, but also give other women the confidence to step out of their comfort zone, and address their struggles too.
“Without Miss Swimsuit UK I wouldn’t of worked half the jobs that I have in the past couple of years.
"The people that I’ve met through the competition have given me opportunities I could only have dreamed of. I’ve competed in Swimsuit USA in Mexico, where I made hundreds of connections with models, businesses and agencies all over the world.
"I’ve worked in Vegas, Israel, Thailand and Miami with some of the biggest brands in the world, and I’m signed with an agency that never fail to provide me with the best jobs and support I could wish for.
"Of course, I’ve worked hard to get these jobs but Miss Swimsuit UK gave me the confidence and the connections to go after everything I want.
“The best thing is, you don’t have to be a model or a certain height or shape or anything like that. There’s no negativity, or judgement. Miss Swimsuit Uk is about female empowerment, and the friends and family you make when competing are the most supportive group of people in the world. You don’t need experience, you just need to be YOU, and believe in yourself. It’s not just about how you look.
"Everybody is beautiful and everyone has their own reasons for competing. It’s about confidence, and empowerment.
"Theres no limit in what you can achieve in this industry, the only thing stopping you is yourself! I’ve loved every second of my journey and I’m so excited that I’ll be there on the judging panel this year too!”
Regional heats for this year’s Miss Swimsuit contest are due to take place this summer, assuming covid restrictions are relaxed in line with the Government’s roadmap, with the grand final scheduled for October.
