Dave and his team at Unit1 have taken on various fundraising challenges over the years to help keep the hospice going.

He said: “We usually do something for Ashgate every year and we were able to raise money by putting on classes via Zoom during lockdown.

“I also wanted to take on a physical challenge.

"So I thought it would be good to set myself a target of a million steps this month.”

The target equates to 33,333.333 steps per day – or approximately 16 miles per day every day for the whole month.

It’s around ten times the steps taken by the average person in the UK.

Dave added: "I have gone on regular long walks from my home in Darley Dale to boost the figure so I’m now over halfway towards my target.

"I’m doing it because it’s a great challenge and a great charity.”

So far, he has raised £348 through his online fundraising page.

He said: “Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.

"Your details are safe – they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

"Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.

"So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.”
