A Chesterfield fish and chip shop is making special deliveries for hard-working staff at the town’s Royal Hospital.

Chesters, on Sheffield Road, is donating 10 box meals every day for NHS, key workers and care home teams.

Restaurant bosses say their takeaway remains open with ‘strict hygiene and safety precautions’.

A spokesperson for Chesters said: “Screens have been put up and a minimal menu has been created in order to move the queues down very fast.

“We have seen footfalls of hundreds every day, with minimal queues and queuing times due to our set-up.

“Our current opening times are Tuesday-Thursday 4-8pm and Friday-Saturday 12noon-8pm. Gluten free options are available.”

Chesters is still hoping to open a new drive-through restaurant at Markham Vale, off the M1 at junction 29a, next year, the spokesperson added.
