Chesterfield Climate Alliance to hold virtual hustings event on environment ahead of Derbyshire County Council elections
The Chesterfield Climate Alliance group is holding a virtual hustings event on the environment ahead of next month’s Derbyshire County Council elections.
The event is due to take place via Zoom at 7pm on April 19. People should register their place at www.eventbrite.com/e/derbyshire-county-council-elections-chesterfield-climate-nature-hustings-tickets-145316568769
The hustings will enable Chesterfield residents to question representatives of local political parties on what they will do if elected on the subject of climate, environment and nature.
Greg Hewitt, of Chesterfield Climate Alliance, said: “Derbyshire County Council should do all it can to cut emissions in our area – and so are calling on all local political parties to pledge that their party will work with the local community to develop and implement an ambitious plan to cut emissions across Chesterfield.
“The benefits of this would go far beyond cutting carbon.
“Policies to cut emissions will also bring new jobs, cut energy bills and make Chesterfield more pleasant place to live, with better public transport and more green spaces.”
