5. May
Debenhams shut permanently at Chesterfield's Ravenside Retail Park in May after the historic company went bust - leaving many of you saddened. It remains to be seen what will happen to the prominent unit - expect an announcement on this in the new year. 6. June
In June, Chesterfield's Gracie Spinks was killed in a crime which horrified us all. Tributes poured in for the much-loved 23-year-old, who was described as 'beautiful', 'wonderful' and someone who 'lived life to the fullest'. Following the tragedy, the community came together to support Gracie's family and friends. The Gracie's Law petition was also set up in a bid to tackle stalking. 7. June
Another crime which shocked the community in June was the arson attack at the Avenue Washlands in Wingerworth, which caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage. Three teenagers were referred to the Derbyshire Youth Offending Service over the offence. Photo: Nick Rhodes
