Shoppers have embraced the new enterprises, much to the delight of the owners.
Tony and Carole Foster are welcoming the public to Barkworthy Dog Emporium in Theatre Yard, Chesterfield, where the business opened this month.
Tony said: “Since the shop opened we’ve enjoyed a brisk trade. It seems Barkworthy emporium is just the sort of place Chesterfield’s dog lovers are looking for. It’s been a delight to engage with the doggy community of Chesterfield and to realise just how knowledgeable they are about their pets.”
Suzie Kujawinski, who launched The Lucky Magpie Salvage antiques and curiosity shop, at Hollis Lane earlier in September said: “It’s been a fantastic experience opening here in Chesterfield. It’s been amazing to see a flurry of younger people with an interest in the world of salvage and antiques. We have been working on a lot more clearances in the surrounding areas and are working on extending the range with architectural gardens in the spring.”
Christian O’Connell opened Host Coffee on Market Street, Clay Cross, last week. He said: “It's been a lot busier than we expected. It's been really well received.”
Blaze Bar & Grill at Stephenson’s Place, Chesterfield, opened its doors to the public in August.
Rebecca Yahia, HR manager, said: “The support we have seen in the first couple of months has been fantastic. We are already seeing “regulars” at Blaze, with customers coming in to eat with us every single week, which really means a lot. The other amazing thing is the reviews! Take a look on Facebook, we are so proud of how people respond to our great food and service.”
Cawa, a coffee shop and artisan bakery, opened at Broad Pavement, Chesterfield, two months ago. This is the company’s first outlet outside Sheffield. Chris Baker, director, said: “All of the team here at Cawa have been made to feel so welcome since we opened; we already feel part of the community of independent businesses here in Chesterfield and we are delighted that we are already starting to see some regulars enjoying time with us at the shop. We look forward to welcoming those who are yet to enjoy their first Cawa with us here in Chesterfield!”
Major fast food chain McDonald’s is expanding its portfolio with a third restaurant in Chesterfield which will launch at West Bars at the end of this month.
Kooca, a new soft play centre and dessert venue, will open its doors at Beetwell Street on October 2.
And multi-purpose The Glass Yard on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, will welcome artisan food producers and retailers to its units which developers hope will be open for business later this year.
