The line closed in 1968, however the pair believe that reopening it would bring tourists to the area and help local businesses, as well as being a useful local resource for people living in the Peak District.

They argue that over the past few years the number of people using stations along the Derwent Valley railway line has increased dramatically, indicating that extending it to include the old line would be a popular move.
