On Saturday, May 31, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) received reports of a 41-year old man had crashed into the side of a hill at Bradwell Edge. He sustained wrist and hip injuries in the crash. They received the call at 4.38pm and landed at the scene at approximately 5pm.

The patient was extricated and treated at the scene by the Edale Mountain Rescue Team, before being handed over to the DLRAA crew. He was immobilised and flown to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further treatment.

In spring, DLRAA usually sees a rise in the number of rescue missions for people injured whilst taking part in outdoor activities, including paragliding. One in five of the crew’s rescue missions in April and May last year involved an injury from an outdoor activity.

The Charity, which receives no Government funding, is calling upon its supporters to donate to the service, so that its crew can help people stay safe. To make a donation, please call 08454 130999, or visit www.theairambulanceservice.org.uk/getsetspring.
