Why should I fork out because roads aren’t repaired!

I acknowledge that Chesterfield Borough Council are not responsible for street repairs. However, I am amazed how they think the go-ahead of HS2 is critical to Chesterfield's future.

I have just had to fork out another £29.99 on two new headlight bulbs for my Skoda Fabia, I was advised that this was due to going over the craters (not potholes).

Surely, common sense tell you it would be better to spend some of the £106b on repairing the roads.

I have a friend who works on monitoring the tracks for British Rail. He tells me that the condition of some of the tracks are very concerning.

Do they not realise that the main winners of HS2 are those who dreamed up this scandal in the first place?

I think that it’s about time we re-examined our priorities.
