LETTER: Mention MPs' parties in name of balance

In last week's edition of The Derbyshire Times you carried two newsworthy stories which included activities undertaken by our local MPs, Toby Perkins and Lee Rowley.

In your coverage of Mr Perkins’ attendance at Macmillan events you point out his political affiliation as Labour MP for Chesterfield. I have absolutely no problem with this.

However, in the interests of fairness and balance you should surely have included the fact that Lee Rowley, MP for North East Derbyshire, is Conservative, in your article about his involvement over bus services in the Dronfield area?

Your article about this did not mention Mr Rowley’s political affiliation.

If you had mentioned this in the article you would have provided your readers with an equal and balanced aspect of your reporting of local MPs work in their constituencies.
