Eligible Chesterfield people share their positive Covid-19 vaccine experiences - but some say they are still awaiting an appointment

We asked our readers who are eligible for an appointment what their experiences of having the jab have been so far.

Beckie Barson said: “I had the vaccine on Monday.“It wasn't painful and it was so quick.“I had a bit of a sore muscle for 24 hours afterwards but apart from that, I've had no other problems.”

Maggie Jackson, said: “I had mine on Tuesday, received a text on Monday, booked through Swiftqueue app.“Extremely well organised at Stubley medical centre, all done in 20 mins.”

Some readers, whose elderly relatives are still waiting for an appointment, have shared concerns about the deployment to the elderly.

Joanna Ratcliffe said: “My 81-year-old mother is still waiting for hers in Chesterfield.“She has been informed that they have run out of vaccines.”

Joanne Lievesley, said: “My 99-year-old nan has not heard anything yet, neither has my mum who hasn’t been out since Christmas 2019 and is extremely vulnerable.”

Margaret Foulkes, said: “Not heard a thing yet. They tell you to wait for a letter then make an appointment but they have all gone.“Most OAPs are stood in the the cold and rain queuing.”

Other readers, however, have said that the process of getting an appointment is going smoothly for them.

Jane Morgan, said: “My mum and dad are booked for Saturday at Dronfield.“Father-in-law and his wife had it yesterday.“My over-70s aunties and uncles have also had it.“Can’t think of anyone that I know over 70 who isn’t booked in or already had it.”

Leanne Faulkner’s relative had a positive experience.

She said: “My grandma had hers last week at Sharley Park.

"Surgery called her Monday, booked in for the Wednesday.“Walked straight in, all checks done, had the injection, waited 15 minutes in case of any reaction, job done.”
