Open gardens weekend aids charities

Flower power will be in force when villagers open their gardens to the public.

Whatstandwell Open Gardens will take place on June 1 between 2pm and 5pm.

Organised by Whatstandwell Social Club in aid of Arthritis Research UK, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Royal British Legion.

Social club chairman Mark Haslam said: “Garden visitors to Whatstandwell in the past have really enjoyed the interesting hillside gardens and how they have been laid out and planted, there is a great range of plants and every garden is different. The Whatstandwell gardeners also enjoy sharing their passion and hard work whilst raising much needed funds for a local charities.”

The event costs of £3.50 for adults and free for accompanied children. Tickets are available from The Family Tree, formerly the Derwent Hotel on the A6.

Dogs can be taken on leads.
