OAP is 
rescued 
after fall 
into river

The air ambulance was called into action when a man fell into a river.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) was called out to an incident in Calver, on Monday.

An 84–year–old man had fallen into the River Derwent after sitting on a walkway which had collapsed.

The air ambulance arrived at the scene at 12.10pm.

The man was in shallow water and was moved to land by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue. His clothing was removed and he was dried and warmed by the emergency services.

He was assessed by a paramedic for injuries before being transferred by land ambulance to Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
