A Chesterfield chip shop owner accused of a terrorism offence will stand trial in September.

Andy Sami Star, 31, who owned the Mermaid Traditional Fish Bar on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on September 3.

He is charged with engaging in the preparation of an act of terrorism.

Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East swooped on Sheffield Road on the morning of December 19 last year.

They said the operation was intelligence-led and involved the chip shop and three other properties in Sheffield.

Sheffield Road in Whittington Moor was cordoned off and the bomb squad also attended.

Mr Star appeared at court in January via video link and is currently in custody.
