The £60,000 Jaguar XKR sportscar was engulfed by fire shortly after 7pm this evening outside the B&Q superstore on Spire Walk just off the Hornsbridge roundabout.

Firefighters spent about half an hour tackling the blaze and making the vehicle safe while police talked to the car's owners, eyewitnesses and shop staff.

Eyewitnesses speculated about the cause of the fire with some saying it had simply 'gone up in flames' and others suggesting it had been 'deliberately set alight'.
