New owner for Bakewell craft bakery
Richard Nealon and Esplin Chapman, who have spent the last 12 years running and managing hotels, have purchased Bloomers Bakery from Marion Wright and Jeff Cooper, meaning the business will have new owners for the first time in 20 years. Bloomers is one of two bakeries in Bakewell who claim to have the original pudding recipe.
“Whatever the truth of the original recipe, there is no doubt that Bloomers contributes to Bakewell’s magnetism as a tourism hub,” said Richard. “The town welcomes over two million visitors each year and Esplin and I are keen to nurture what is already a successful business and explore some opportunities to grow some aspects, particularly on the manufacturing side.”
