New homes set to get go-ahead


Proposals include application seeks consent only to layout, landscaping, scale and external appearance of the residential development comprising 317 dwellings.
House-builder Wheeldon Brothers Limited has applied for planning permission to build a residential development including 317 houses. The development would be on land south of Mansfield Road And north Of A38 Mansfield Road.

Hide AdCouncil officers recommended Amber Valley Borough Council planning board, and a decision is set to be made at Ripley Town Hall on March 14.
Wheeldon Brothers Limited is hoping for the council go-ahead.
A spokesperson for the firm said: “We have delivered many successful developments in and around the Alfreton area for a number of years. We are extremely excited about the prospect of delivering this development, which, along with the access to the site were approved at outline planning stage in 2013.
“The current proposal for 317 dwellings will include the landscaping of more than five acres of land for public use as a town and village green, retain trees and hedgerows and introduce ecology enhancement features.

Hide Ad“As a focal point in the heart of the development and near the existing primary school, we will provide up to three acres of public amenity land including an equipped children’s playground and a multi-use games area (MUGA).
“Wheeldon Brothers Limited will deliver much needed housing, including housing for social rent and shared ownership. New properties from starter homes to family houses of varying sizes to satisfy the local need, all helping to sustain the town’s small businesses.
“We have listened to feedback and reflected it in the designs for which we seek approval. We want to deliver a development which will offer a range of housing appropriate for the setting.”
