New bobby for Matlock

PCSO Bell-Heather started out on her beat earlier this week and will be on patrol throughout the town over the coming months.

She is one of only 16 PCSOs posted across Derbyshire, with others starting at locations including Buxton, Derby, South Derbyshire and Erewash.

PCSO Bell-Heather, who has been out on the streets alongside PCSO Karl Millward this week, said she cannot wait to get stuck in and get to know the Matlock community.

She said: “I’m really excited about it because it’s such a unique opportunity.

“The biggest challenge for me will be finding my way around Matlock and getting to know the public here.

“But I really can’t wait. I’m very approachable and friendly and really want people to come up and talk to me any time about local policing issues.”

PCSO Bell-Heather, who hails from the Ashbourne area, said she was also hoping to engage with younger age groups.

She said: “One of our policing priorities is nuisance behaviour and one way to reduce this is to provide alternative activities for youngsters.

“What I would like to do is talk to under-18s and set up new events and opportunities for them to take part in. That’s something I’m very passionate about.”
