In November, Derbyshire County Council asked people living, working or with connections to Darley Dale to suggest names for its new £8m specialist community care centre which is being built next to the Whitworth Hospital, just off the A6 between Darley Dale and Matlock.
A number of suggestions were received and a shortlist has now been agreed on.
The shortlist is Meadow View, Derwent View and Shore View.
Some suggestions had a Whitworth theme, based on the significance made by the Whitworth family to the area, including the contribution to the local community by Lady Mary Louisa Whitworth.

After some discussions, the panel discounted suggestions featuring the Whitworth name as there are already prominent buildings in the area with the same name – The Whitworth Centre and the Whitworth Hospital.
The county council panel is now considering the shortlist of names and will make a final decision in the new year.
Derbyshire County Council Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care Councillor Paul Jones said: “The new community care centre marks a significant investment for the county council and will be very much a part of the local community.”
It is expected that the building will be finished by the end of 2014.
