The 20-year-old hiker was caught out by wintry conditions on Thursday morning and slipped while climbing a stile at Dalehead, at the western end of the Edale Valley, injuring his back.

Members of Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams joined paramedics in helping treat the man, before stretchering him to a waiting ambulance.

He was then transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport for further treatment.
