Mountain rescue team helps stranded Kinder Scout walkers

A Buxton Mountain Rescue team put its Kinder Scout Search Plan into action after reports of two adults getting lost in the darkness.

Two people had left the Snake Inn, on the A57, along the Snake Pass road, during Saturday evening, November 1, to visit a landmark on the Northern Edges of Kinder Scout.

With the onset of darkness, the couple became lost and telephoned for assistance.

Mountain rescue teams from Glossop, Kinder, Edale and Buxton, together with three search and rescue dogs responded.

A Glossop Team section located the pair above Fairbrook Clough and they were checked on site and warmed up and walked backed to their vehicle on the Snake Pass unharmed.

On Tuesday morning, November 3, the Edale and Buxton Teams were also requested by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to meet at Monsal Head following reports of an injured walker.

The woman was reported to be suffering a suspected stroke on the south side of Monsal Dale.

Mountain rescue team resources were stood down en route as the air ambulance had managed to land, reach the woman and airlift her to hospital for specialist care.
