Motorists warned to expect long delays after six vehicle pile-up on motorway

Drivers are being warned to expect long delays after a six vehicle pile-up on the M1.

Two lorries and a car collided at around 1pm between junction 29 at Chesterfield and junction 30 near Bolsover.

A further two cars then collided and an articulated lorry broke down.

The lane was closed as the vehicles were recovered.

Police confirm the lane has reopened but motorist can expect severe delays of one hour and 40 minutes.

An accident involving four lorries has also taken place on the M1 northbound at junction 31

Recovery work is in progress and work to clear an oil spillage.

A diversion is in operation - via the exit and entry slip roads but congestion is backing up to junction 29.
