Mobility firm boss is jailed after admitting to a string of fraud offences

The boss of two former mobility firms who admitted conning elderly Derbyshire victims out of more than £40,000 has been jailed.

Amarjit Gill, 51, and wife Ranjit Gill, of Brackenfield Drive, Giltbrook, Nottingham, ran firms called Virgo Healthcare and Lifestyle from Gainsborough Business Park, Long Eaton. The pair admitted 25 charges of fraud.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison while Ranjit, 45, was given a 12–month sentence, suspended for two years, and 200 hours of unpaid work. Both were banned from being company directors for five years.

Valerie Shaw, of Farley Hill, Matlock, was outraged when her mother, Mary Wallace was duped into buying items from them.

For their part in the fraud, David Messom, 27, of Maws Lane, Kimberley, was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for two years, with 200 hours’ unpaid work, and Samuel Routh, 26, of Wilkinson Close, Chilwell, was sentenced to nine months, suspended for two years, with 180 hours’ unpaid work.
