Mobile libraries may be hit by cuts

Residents will be asked for views on changes to Derbyshire County Council’s mobile library service to help the authority with budget cuts if cabinet approves proposals at a meeting next week.

The authority has to save £157million over five years and is looking at reducing mobile library services. Views on proposals will be requested and a second stage involves a consultation on preferred options. If proposals are approved by Cabinet, the public consultation would start in January and run until June. It is expected final proposals would be presented in September 2014.
