Matlock: vandals target Hall Leys Park

Matlock police are on the lookout for vandals who climbed onto buildings in Hall Leys Park and tore off newly installed guttering.

The bowling green building and the toilet block close to the children’s play area were targeted by the offenders, who climbed onto the roofs and tore the gutters off.

Derbyshire Dales District Council had only recently replaced guttering on the toilet block, which was pulled down last month.

PCSO Hayley Grundy, from Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This might seem like just a bit of fun to those responsible.

“But, aside from costing money, it’s vandalism and that kind of behaviour can quickly escalate into something that that could land them in serious trouble.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PCSO Grundy on 101. You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
