Matlock tot begins fight against inoperable brain tumour

Morgan Gray, two, has an inoperable brain tumour. His family are now trying to raise money to take the Matlock youngster on holiday.

Medics discovered two-year-old Morgan Gray’s tumour in August following a lengthy and unexplained illness.

Doctors told parents Hayley Pearson and Stephen Gray, both 28, they could not operate because the tumour is on Morgan’s brain stem, which makes surgery too risky.

Hayley said the family were ‘heartbroken’ and ‘devastated’ upon learning the devastating diagnosis.

She said doctors could not provide any guide as to how long Morgan would survive with the tumour either.

But this week the family have been given a renewed sense of hope.

Morgan has begun six months chemotherapy to see if it reduces the tumour.

If the treatment is effective, the brave tot will undergo more of the dilapidating treatment in the hope of beating the condition for good.

Hayley said: “The chemotherapy and all the other medication Morgan is taking is making him very poorly.

“He is back at home, which is a good. But it’s very hard for him and he’s very sick.”

She added: “If this is effective then there is a hope we might be able to beat this, though.

“We just hope so much that it works.”

Hayley said Morgan has had eight surgeries and 15 general anaesthetics so far.
