The YHA is currently employing more than 35 Highfields graduates at their national offices in Matlock. As well as providing important interview experience, YHA supports Highfields business students by inviting them to Take Over Day each year in November to get involved in management and decision making tasks through Apprentice-style tasks.

Caroline White, the YHA’s chief executive officer, was joined by Anthea Page, head of planning and communications, and Sharn Harrison, head of business systems, at Highfields School.

Passionate about young people and their development, Caroline said, “At the heart of YHA is our aim to promote young people’s health, recreation and education. Mock interview day is a great opportunity to work with Highfields again, meet ambitious young people, and pass on any knowledge the young people might find useful in life after school.

Jane Turner, teacher responsible for life and work skills, , said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the employers involved for their commitment to our school. Having members of our local business community put our students through their paces and give them insight into what a job interview can entail is invaluable. Our students find the experience extremely useful and it opens their eyes to what lies beyond the school environment.”
