Matlock pupils are hired

Business-savvy pupils from Highfields School have been stars recently after creating their own version of TV series Young Apprentice.

Their task over the last six weeks has been to design a new chocolate bar from start to finish, considering the content, packaging design and marketing.

Working in groups, they filmed a one minute TV advert for their product and the best designs were then pitched to Thornton’s commercial director, Phil Sarginson.

The aim of the project was to encourage team work, independent learning and creativity in a business context.

Students were enthusiastic about the fun they had designing a product and creating advertising, and can’t wait to do it again.

The project organisers said: “We were impressed with the quality of designs and above all the enthusiastic and productive participation of these young eleven and twelve year olds. We would certainly say, “You’re hired!” to them!”
