Marathon bid to raise £10k for young cancer sufferer

Despite the fact Emily Hall had “never even owned a pair of trainers” before getting her marathon place in October, the 33-year-old is confident that she can raise the cash.

Emily, who’s family run Matlock Bath Ice Cream Shop and Truly Scrumptious sweet shop, is hoping to assist four-year-old cancer sufferer Mollie Matthews.

“Mollie has a rare and aggressive form of cancer called Neuroblastoma,” said Emily.

“Treatment for Neuroblastoma isn’t repeated in the UK if the child relapses – and it has a very high relapse rate – so she would have to go to America at a cost of £500,000.”

If Mollie does not relapse in the future, however, the money will be donated to the Showmen’s Children’s Charity, which assist children affected by disability, injury or accident.

To help Emily reach her target, people can visit her Matlock Bath shops where they can pledge an amount or enter a prize draw.

Emily said: “I’ve been running from Matlock Bath to Ashford in the Water a couple of times a week and I’m determined to raise this money.”
