Man in hospital after Chesterfield water rescue

A man was taken to hospital after being rescued from water at a Chesterfield park.

Derbyshire fire service’s water rescue unit, police and paramedics attended the incident at Somersall Park off Chatsworth Road at about 4.30pm on Monday.

They found a 45-year-old Chesterfield man in the water.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “The fire service, along with police and paramedics, carried out a water rescue.”

On Tuesday morning, a Derbyshire police spokesman said: “The man was taken to hospital.

“He’s been detained and is due to undergo medical and mental health assessments later today.

“There were concerns about possible hypothermia.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident.”
