A 53–year–old man has been arrested and questioned in connection with an allegation of theft from Derbyshire Districts Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), which covers the Derbyshire Dales.

The man, who is from Sheffield, was arrested in September. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue into the allegations.

Andy Powell, chairman of the Derbyshire Districts CAB, said: “Derbyshire CAB is here to serve the community and help people with their problems, so it is very upsetting that it appears we have been a victim of criminal activity.

“Derbyshire CAB remains financially secure and will continue to operate as normal.

“Our clients and other residents of Derbyshire can be confident that our free and impartial advice will remain available to them. There is no evidence that the confidentiality of our clients has been compromised.

“Whilst the police investigation remains ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
