Man allegedly fled scene after crashing into parked car following 30-mile chase from Derby to Chesterfield
A man is alleged to have led police on a 30-mile car chase from Derby to Chesterfield before crashing into a parked vehicle and fleeing the scene.
In the early hours of Friday, October 28 driver Calvin Grant, 27, of Addison Road, Derby, is alleged to have failed to stop when asked to do so by officers on the A52 Derby.
Mr Grant is then accused of taking the M1 northbound to junction 29 and then the A617 to Chesterfield town centre.
The chase then came to a halt when Mr Grant is alleged to have crashed into a parked car on Madin Street, Chesterfield, at the junction with Dowdeswell Street, before apparently then fleeing the scene.
Mr Grant, who was later arrested, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 29 charged with failing to stop when asked to do so by police, dangerous driving, failing to provide a breath sample and being found in possession of an offensive weapon.
He was remanded in custody.
Mr Grant will next appear at Derby Crown Court on November 20 for sentencing.
