M1 crash shuts lane and hard shoulder

The incident happened at 10.15am on Wednesday, August 17 between junction 28 and 29 heading northbound, near to Tibshelf services.

A transit van towing a trailer broke down on the hard shoulder and was rear-ended by a lorry.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “Both vehicles are on the hard shoulder and we have left the collision in the hands of Highways England.

“Luckily there are no injuries to either driver.”

A spokesman for Highways England said: “There is minimal disruption as it is just lane one which is closed and recovery is taking place now.

“The road will also need to be cleared as there is some fluid on road.
“We hope to have everything cleared by 1.30pm.”
