Scores of families flocked to the event at the village’s cricket ground on Sunday.

The carnival featured a number of attractions which put a smile on everyone’s faces – including music, games, stalls and a dog show.

There was also a guest appearance by celebrity Will Mellor, the English actor known for his roles in Hollyoaks, Casualty and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

Those who attended hailed the event, which was organised by the Glapwell Community Development Group.

Hazel Woodward said: “It was a fantastic day.

“The weather was super and I was very impressed by the professionalism of the organisers – everything went off without a hitch.

“I can’t wait for next year’s carnival now – I’ll certainly be attending.”
