TWO men attacked and robbed a lorry driver in a lay-by on a Derbyshire bypass this morning (February 2).

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the lorry driver pulled over on the Northbound carriageway on the A6 Chapel-en-le-Frith bypass and was robbed.

The driver was followed by what he described as a small hatchback car as he parked into the lay-by in Chapel, which then parked in front of it.

He was then attacked by two men who fled with a few items from the cab a short time later.

The driver suffered non-serious injuries in the robbery, which happened at about 6.45am today.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the lorry in the lay-by or a small car park up in front of it.

They also want to hear from anyone who might have seen the small car drive out of the lay-by and off along Chapel bypass.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting incident 97 of February 2.

You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
