Long-serving Derbyshire school teacher dies suddenly
Simon Redhead, who taught PE at Swanwick Hall School for 30 years, passed away on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Redhead started his teaching career at the school, on Derby Road, in 1985.
In a statement released today, the school said: “Throughout his long career, Mr Redhead held a number of important roles within the school and made significant contributions to the education of many children, both within the classroom, where he was accredited as an advanced skills teacher, and through his leadership roles.
“Mr Redhead led a number of year groups, including the sixth form, as well as leading on the development of applied and vocational education.
“He was, above all else, well-loved and highly-respected by those who had the privilege to work alongside him and to be taught by him.
“The thoughts of the whole school community are very much with Mr Redhead’s wife, Helen, and children, Laura and Jonathan.”
The school is now considering how to commemorate Mr Redhead’s commitment over the years.
