LETTER: Where were town wardens when drunks were shouting abuse?

It's not often that I now go to do my shopping in Chesterfield town centre, but recently a trip to the optician's in the afternoon was a necessity.

There was some drunks/druggies shouting abuse, waving their arms, shouting at the top of their voices outside Boots to the dismay of shoppers.

Later they were all seen partaking in the same type of behaviour, sitting on the benches outside of a bank and building society, while swigging out of bottles congregating with their buddies. Shoppers were parting like Moses and the Red Sea.

Where were the town centre wardens, the PCSO officers, or anyone who could disperse the rabble that Chesterfield is starting to attract?

Come on you people in charge, Chesterfield is continuing to look run down, with major stores closing, charity shops galore, and retail business being taken elsewhere.

We don’t want Chesterfield to look like neighbouring towns that also have gone into decline, and with this type of behaviour that was going on recently it won’t be long before it is parallel with them.
