LETTER: Is bad news good news for the Derbyshire Times?

I write to you about the August 18 edition of your paper, often known, with some justification, as the Derbyshire Crimes. '¨The big headlines on page one were about a cat being tortured to death. On page 40 there was a substantial article about recorded crime rates in Derbyshire. It showed that the county is one of the safest in the country, and that rates continue to fall.

What would have happened had you swapped the two stories, so that the good news was on the front page? I suppose we would have felt happier and you would have sold fewer papers.
What does that say about us all in Derbyshire?
