Inquests opened after men die in motorbike smash

A coroner has opened inquests into the deaths of two men who died in a motorbike crash on a notorious road.

The motorbike, which was travelling from Matlock towards Chesterfield on the Slack Hill road, hit a wall just before 11.35pm on Wednesday, May 14.

The 23-year-old rider, Daniel Green, of George Street, North Wingfield, and his 22-year-old passenger, Jamie Lynch, of Chesterfield Avenue, New Whittington, were thrown from the blue Honda motorbike and suffered fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours as police carried out investigations.

Speaking at Chesterfield coroners’ court this afternoon, coroner James Newman said: “Post-mortem examinations have been carried out and we’re awaiting the results.”

The inquests were adjourned to a later date.
