Inquest opens into murder victim

AN inquest has opened into the death of a man found dead in Matlock.

A Chesterfield hearing heard how Alexander Blick, 42, of Dale Road, Matlock Bath, was found by a member of the public at about 11am on Sunday, October 16, in the grounds of the town library in Steep Turnpike.

Mr Blick died as a result of head injuries.

Originally from Plymouth, he had lived in Matlock for about three months.

He was last seen alive at about 7.15pm on October 15.

Coroner Nigel Anderson adjourned the inquest pending further enquiries.

• Michael Wayne Carroll, 43, of Rutland Street in Matlock, has appeared in court charged with murder. He was remanded in custody.
