Important warning for Chesterfield residents

Chesterfield Borough Council is urging residents to ALWAYS check for ID if they are approached by someone claiming to be from the authority.

A council spokesman said: "We have received reports of two surveyors in hi-vis jackets visiting properties on Hunloke Avenue claiming to be from the council.

"Council staff will always carry ID.

"Anyone who is unsure that the caller is genuine can contact the council on 01246 345345.

"Anyone receiving a visit from a bogus caller should contact Derbyshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number, 101."
