Holmgate pupils celebrate their singing success

Holmgate Primary School pupils and parents sung and danced their way through the Young Voices concert held at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield last month.

The children danced along with stars such as Laura Wright, Tom Billington, the Beatbox Collective and the Urban Strides Dance troupe.

Catherine Sawkins, teacher and choir organiser, said that the experience was unbelievable and was a heart-warming spectacle.

The children had been practicing at Holmgate for months and performed at the concert as a collective.

She said: “The children were learning songs in the hall of the school so to then take those into a massive arena was overwhelming. It was absolutely fantastic, unbelievable. It was so busy and the children were buzzing with energy. It was lovely to meet other schools and mingle with them.

“All of the children’s efforts was obvious, it was wonderful and they can’t wait to go again next year. It just shows that the hard work and practice paid off and contributed to us taking part in something really special.”

Parent Lisa Bradford added: “The concert was brilliant. We couldn’t believe just how good it was. We’re looking forward to next year already.”
