Historic band seeks players

A brass band that has been going for more than 130 years faces the prospect of having to merge with another group due to a lack of members.

Cressbrook Brass Band is seeking new members, particularly cornet players, to join them.

The historic band, originally set up in 1880 for mill workers, has lost three of its four cornet players recently, who play the melody.

If they cannot find any new players, the band may have to merge with another to make up for the deficit.

Anyone interested in taking part can call band secretary Paul Radcliffe on 01298 872409.
