Help us identify Derbyshire's shining stars

In order to whet your appetite for the big event, we wanted to put the spotlight on a few of the categories you can nominate in as well as a few of the recent winners.

First up are the awards for Outstanding Bravery, Neighbour of the Year and Most Improved Student.

For the Outstanding Bravery Award we are looking for stories of people who have demonstrated remarkable bravery either in their own battles or selflessly helping others.

Ashlie Chung is interviewed by host Steven Smith after being presented with her Most Improved Student award by Jeremy Asquith from Chesterfield College.

Last year’s winner, community care worker, Alison Elliott, demonstrated commitment to her clients that was well and truly above and beyond the call of duty.

Despite her car being stuck in the snow during Christmas 2014, she carried on by foot making sure she got to the people who depended on her.

For the Neighbourhood Superstar Award we are looking for someone who goes the extra mile in helping people in their area.

Last year, nationally recognised craftsman, Andrew Lawton, won for the work he has done with one of his neighbours for the last 15 years.

The neighbour, who has profound learning difficulties, told us Andrew had helped him live a full life for years and no one knew about it.

Finally for Most Improved Student we are looking for a youngster who has not always found things easy but who strives to succeed and has improved throughout the school year.

Last year’s winner, Ashlie Chung, from Hady Primary School came to the school unable to speak any English and left last year having achieved fantastic results.
