Heanor man sent his ex offensive texts

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Wednesday, January 28, how Karl Hands, 25, of Wood End Road, Heanor, had been in a relationship for two years.

Prosecuting solicitor Mike Law said: “The complainant said she was in a relationship with the defendant and they have a one-year-old daughter and she is pregnant with another child with him.”

Mr Law explained Hands’s former partner had allegedly been assaulted by the defendant in October, last year, and Hands was issued with a caution for common assault in November. Hands, who represented himself, pleaded guilty to sending texts during December 27 which were of a grossly offensive and obscene nature. Magistrates adjourned the case until February 18 to consider reports before sentencing.
