Hayfield May Queen, Sheridan Lomas, 14, and her royal assistants Princess Poppy Paton, 10 and Rosebud Amber Cuthbert, 7, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony at Blue Grass Purple Cow Nursery, on Chapel Street.

This is the second nursery established by Buxton couple Kimberly and Euan Monro, who opened Blue Grass Purple Cow Nursery, on Buxton Old Road, in Disley nearly nine years ago.

Kimberly, who recently won best nursery chef in the Nursery Management Today awards, said: “We lived in Hayfield before moving to Buxton so this is a little like coming home. Our children went to the village playgroup in this very building, in fact.

“So we are so happy to be able to have restored and modernised the building, originally built in the 1800s, and to bring the laughter of local children back to it once again.”

The pre-school will care for children aged from three months old to five years.
