Have a say on area’s blueprint

Residents in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site are being urged to help shape the future of the area over the next five years.

The site has just completed the final draft of its management plan -the blueprint for its visions and aims.

The Derwent Valley Mills with the surrounding communities and landscape were designated as a WorldHeritage Site in 2001, as the birthplace of the factory system

The WorldHeritage Site Partnership comprises companies, charities, local authorities and organisationsthat work togetherto protect, enhance and promote this unique landscape.

Their plan sets out to:

Celebrate the history ofthe Site to inspire and shape a creative future

Be renowned for best practice in its management

Be a popular, quality tourist destination and a symbol ofregional and national pride.
