I'm Mike Williamson and I work for Arvato UK, one of the world's leading outsourcing partners, with more than 50 years' experience in business process outsourcing.

Our clients range from global multinationals in the private sector, to public sector bodies like government departments, local councils and hospital trusts.

Arvato works in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council and Derbyshire Dales District Council to deliver a range of key services for the councils and their residents. There are around 170 people in our team in Chesterfield.

I have worked for Arvato since 2005, where I have had a number of roles. I began my involvement with our Chesterfield partnership in the summer of 2013, and am currently the site director for our Chesterfield and Derbyshire Dales partnerships.

1. What do you like best about living in Chesterfield and why?

I live and work close to the town centre and it’s very convenient having so many shops and other amenities right on the doorstep. I also enjoy being so close to wonderful places like Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Walking to work is a plus, as I manage to get some exercise every day! I also enjoy visiting the market, which is a unique attraction for the town centre.

2. What are your favourite ways to spend your free time in Derbyshire?

Exploring and walking in the Peak District. It’s been one of my favourite places ever since my week long school trip to Hope when I was 10. I also enjoy playing five a-side football with friends and colleagues and I am very impressed with the new sports centre.

3. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

One of the first things I noticed when I came to Chesterfield was the good selection of high street retailers we have here. I’d say WH Smith is my favourite - it’s the combination of books, CDs, DVDs and all those magazines. However, I probably spend more time in M&S running errands for my other half!

4. What is your favourite hidden gem in Chesterfield and why?

Vintage tearooms. It’s worth stepping out of the town centre. Great food, great atmosphere.

5. What are the positives about running a business here?

I have an amazing team and that is always the starting point for running a successful business. There is also a very good transport network and a friendly business community.

6. What new development in the area excites you most?

I’d say it’s probably the redevelopment of the Co-op building. I can’t wait to see who will be moving in.

7. What do you believe Chesterfield needs but doesn’t yet have?

I think a premiership football team would be great.
