Organiser Steve Howard, who runs the Toy Cupboard in New Mills, said: “I’ve attended bigger comic-cons with my own stall and we already run an event in Bakewell, and we thought why can’t Bakewell have a comic-con of it’s own. So, we’ve started one to give people in and around Bakewell a chance to find their inner ‘geek’, and we’ll see where it goes.

“It’s taken a couple of months to pin all the right people down - we want guests that can interact with visitors and have a bit of time with fans, and we’ve tried to get a mix as well so it covers different movie genres.”

Guests will include Spencer Wilding, who has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr Who, Stardust, Game of Thrones and upcoming movie Pan, Derbyshire’s own Phill Martin, who appeared as the “Engineer” in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and special effects artist Trevor Butterfield who worked on the original Star Wars trilogy, Indiana Jones and many more.

Entry is by pre-booked ticket or on the door. Adults £4, Children (5-12yrs) £2, Children under five go free. Early Bird tickets also available, for more information call 07846 772 568.
